Privacy policy
Last updated: June 2026 · Governed by Canada’s PIPEDA
Our approach
We are privacy-first and collect the minimum needed to run the service. Many of our users are minors, so we default to the most protective settings. This policy follows the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
What we collect
To create an account we ask only your email address and first name. If you save schools to your list, we store that list. If you write a review, we store the review content and your chosen affiliation. We log basic, first-party usage events to improve the product. No third-party ad trackers.
Sensitive information
We do not require sensitive personal information in v1. Any sensitive or optional field added later will be clearly labelled, collected only with your explicit, purpose-specific consent, stored only after you have an account, and never required to use the free finder.
How we use it
To create and secure your account, save your list of schools, publish moderated reviews, and improve the service. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not run a marketing or lead-generation pipeline in v1.
Email & consent (CASL)
The sign-in link we email is a transactional message required to access your account. It is not marketing. We send no commercial electronic messages without your express consent. If we ever add a newsletter, opt-in will be unchecked by default, separate from account creation, and easy to unsubscribe from at any time.
Reviews & user content
Reviews are moderated before display, with filters for profanity and personal contact info. Please don’t include anyone’s private information. You can edit or delete your own reviews, and anyone can request a takedown of content that violates our policies.
Security & retention
We encrypt personal data in transit and at rest, restrict access, and keep data only as long as needed for the purposes above. Sign-in links are single-use and expire quickly.
Your rights
You can access, correct, or delete your personal information, and withdraw consent, at any time. Email privacy@admissionprep.ca and we’ll action it. Deleting your account removes your saved list and personal profile.
Minors
We design for a teen audience: protective defaults, no default-on opt-ins, and age-appropriate language. If you’re a parent or guardian with a concern, contact us and we’ll help.
